HappyFeet’s approach to developing gross-motor skills, creativity, and a positive self-concept aligns with Maria Montessori’s method of education by empowering each child’s initiative through play. Our curriculum and adventures facilitate learning through exploration, manipulation, order, repetition, abstraction, and effective communication.

  • We ask essential questions during our sessions about our Big Idea of the month to engage critical thinking
  • We lead our students through self-directed processes to problem-solve throughout our adventure

CHILD-CENTERED LEARNING

  • We communicate with each child as separate and unique individuals
  • We prepare the environment by adapting every session based on observations from the previous classes and needs of each child
  • We serve as a guide during the session, instead of an instructor

FREEDOM OF CHOICE

  • We allow children to choose where they go in our adventures and how they want to participate during each session
  • We instill a self-regulation discipline style
  • We present various options with the clear expectation of safety for every HappyFeeter

INDEPENDENCE

  • We ensure every child has their own ball throughout the session, which they can manipulate as they desire. 
  • We empower every HappyFeeter with language and gross-motor skills that promote self-reliance
  • We prepare sessions with opportunities to practice being courageous and active agents of their own experience
